Registration and Race Pack Pick-Up

Numbers and timing chips will be sent out in August. If there are any entries still available after August 1, those runners will have to collect their race numbers and timing chips on the morning of the race from 8.15am onwards. Anyone entering with a non-UK address will have to collect their number on race day.

The registration will be in the black tents on the edge of the main race car park, it will be fully marked and sign posted. Final race instructions will also be sent out via email prior to the event to all runners. Your race pack will contain your race number and pins, final instructions and race maps. Your timing chip is affixed to the back of your race number.

Please arrive at least an hour before your intended start to give you time to prepare yourself and make your way to the start. Your race number will have a number of detachable elements that can be exchanged for food and drink at the pulled post-race party  as well as a detachable baggage tag that can be used for any baggage that you want to check while you run. Half marathon numbers will also be marked with a T-shirt Size, which indicates the size of T-shirt you ordered. That is the size of T-shirt you will receive at the finish. Since we pre-order the T-shirts according to the sizes you ordered we can't change your size on race day.

10K runners who ordered a T-shirt, £12 in advance, can also collect their T-shirts at the finish. Those who have pre-purchased numbers will be marked with a T-shirt size. Those who did not order a T-shirt will have numbers marked 'NO T-SHIRT'. The volunteers at the finish will only hand out T-shirts to 10K runners who have a size stamp on the front. If your number does not have a size stamp and you believe you ordered one in advance, please go the Race HQ/Information tents. If you order a T-shirt after your initial registration it is likely your number will be stamped no T-shirt so you will have to go to registration to pick your T-shirt. The staff there have a complete list of pre-ordered 10K t-shirts and will give you the size that your ordered. There will be no T-shirts for sale on the day, if you running the 10K and you want a T-shirt, please order it in advance to avoid disappointment.

T-shirts are unisex sizing :

XS - Chest = 45cm Length = 66cm

S - Chest = 48cm Length = 68

M - Chest = 51cm Length 70cm

L - Chest = 54cm Length 72cm

XL - Chest = 57cm Length 74cm

2XL - Chest = 60cm Length = 76cm

(Chest measurements are for one side of the t-shirt measured whilst it is lying flat)

We place T-shirt orders according to those sizes so we will not be able to exchange the size you ordered on the day for a different size.

We will not be selling T-shirts on the day, if you are running the 10K and want the race T-shirt please order it in advance.

Secured Baggage

There is a secured baggage area behind the Denbies main building and can be reached by walking through the large marquee to the right. The large marquee will also host the post-race party after you have completed your run. The baggage area is manned until 3pm.

There will be a tear-off baggage tag on the bottom of your race number. The tag number matches your race number. Attach the tag to any baggage you wish to leave. We will not accept bags with no tags. The baggage area will be open from 8.30am and will close at 3pm. Any baggage that has not been collected at that point will be moved to the main reception at Denbies which closes at 5pm. Any baggage left after 5pm will need to be collected on Monday morning.

There will be the option to leave car keys in a secure box at the baggage tent. Again you should attach the baggage tag to your keys.

Please ensure that any bag you leave is correctly tagged, we will only release the bag to a person with a number that matches the baggage tag. We will not accept bags for drop off without a numbered tag.

Parking

The event car parks are within the grounds of Denbies Vineyard, Dorking, RH5 6AA. We will be using two main car parks with a third as an over-spill car park. Car parking is free to all competitors and spectators.

The two main car parks are at the front of the Denbies estate immediately after you drive into the property. We will be using both car parks concurrently to limit queues and prevent congestion on the roads. Our car parking marshals will direct you to the appropriate car park, please follow their instructions. Both car parks are about five minutes walk from the start/finish area and Denbies main building so there is no particular advantage of one over the other..

If you are dropping off a runner or spectator, please notify the marshals and they will direct you to the drop off area. The car parks have a one way system so when you enter the car park you will not be able to leave until after all runners have started. Please follow the marshals instructions when parking. Any randomly parked cars that block exit or entry routes into or out of the car park will be towed away.

Please use the designated event car parks and do not park in other areas of the Denbies complex which are reserved for Denbies general customers on the day.

When leaving the car park after your run, EXIT signs will direct you on to a one way system to leave the vineyard. Follow the signs and turn right as you exit the car park on to the one-way system.

Prizes

Bacchus Wine Half Marathon and 10K are primarily fun runs and we want you to take your time to enjoy the wine, the food, the music and the scenery.

The event is chip timed and we publish results after the event, but we do not award prizes to the fastest finishers in any of the races. If you are coming to Bacchus hoping to run a fast time, you are probably at the wrong race. It's a hard race to run and there will be congestion on certain parts of the course with most runners taking their time. There are also a couple of points where potentially faster half runners will reach the tail or the 10K, the onus is on the faster runner to slow down and take care not for the slower runners to move out o the way!

Although we don't reward fast times, we do, however, award bottles of Denbies English wine for the best fancy dress costumes we see on the day. The best fancy dress competition is judged by our MC and the course marshals and the prizes are awarded at the finish line. It is a light-hearted competition and no discussion will be entered into about the decisions they make. Those decisions are entirely subjective.

Toilets

There will be plenty of portable toilets close to the start finish area. There are additional men's and women's toilets inside Denbies main building but they are primarily to be used by Denbies general customers.. There will also be portable toilets at one location out on the course that half marathon runners  pass twice (near 3 miles and 12 miles) and 10K runners once.

Headphone policy and dogs

Although the race route crosses one public highway, the route itself does not run on the public highway. We do not ban headphones, although we advise against running with them and if you decide to use them, you do so at your own risk.

However you cannot run with a dog. Dogs may be brought along with spectators and must be leashed at all times!

Dogs are not allowed inside Denbies main building under any circumstances.
